Fort De Soto Park Reviews
Ask for a map when you pay $5 parking fee. Stop at info station talking to the friendly Informational Volunteer. Stop at the museum to learn a little history. East beach has a children’s play ground a... more »
This park has the only off-lease dog beach in the area. The beach is clean and everyone who pays the $5.00 entry fee seems to understand the necessity to clean up after their pet. Our dogs enjoyed run... more »
Ett härligt ställe med fina sandstränder, cykelbanor och ett eldorado för fågelskådare. Där ser man också delfiner och sjökor. Har simmat med dem alldeles nära. Det finns uthyrning av cyklar och kanot... more »A great place with nice sandy beaches, bike paths and a paradise for birdwatchers. Also see dolphins and manatees. Have swum with them too close. There are rental bicycles and canoes, and you can also rent the fixed barbecue places. You have to book in advance via the Internet. There are two smaller places that sell burgers etc, best, however, is to make your own packed lunch!
This is one of my favorite parks in the entire country. It is so diversified, there is always something new to do and discover, and is extremely well maintained. Nature has been left fairly much intact which is the beauty of it all. Excellent place to go bike riding if you like, not to mention fishing, boating, the dog park, dog beach, picnicking, kayaking, camping, and did I mention swimming? Just cannot say enough about Fort De Soto - obviously!!! Oh, and check out the Fort while there....
This was such a beautiful place! It can be hard to find a beach area in Florida that isn't filled with ugly 70s developments and touristy stores. Here, you are surrounded by beautiful nature! We went to North Beach and it was amazing: clear blue waters, powder-soft sand, and plenty of shells! At first, the beach looked crowded, but if you walk to the right, theres plenty of open beach. There's even a lagoon where we saw dolphins. There is an entrance fee of $5 to get into into the park, but that covers parking, the beach, the trails, the fort, etc. We didn't get the chance to visit the fort, but we definitely will on our next trip!
The park itself is clean and nice. But the people in the grill actually ruined our day. They were very very rude. All except the gentleman selling the ice cream. He was fairly new so i think maybe give it a couple months and they'll try to teach him to be rude. Again the park is pretty nice and clean. If you want to eat, go to a restaurant FIRST and apparently no beer there either....118 dollar fine for any alcohol. I didn't see anyone enforce it but COME ON... Obey the rules!
Fort De Soto is worth the visit! The beaches are all nice and pretty open. Unlike Clearwater or St. Pete Beach that’s usually crowded, Fort De Soto has lots of space so you’re not right next to another group. Plenty of wildlife, fishing opportunities, and a nice dog beach! The old fort area is very neat and has some cool historic information. Next time you’re thinking of going to the beach try out this place!
Took our dogs to this dog beach today and had a wonderful time. Was nice and clean, people and their dogs were great. One guy got mad that my dog was off leash when he had his leashed. But everyone else was great. Nice dog park there too. Was huge for the big dogs, and nice washing area. We would definitely return!
