Siesta Beach, Siesta Key

4.7
Noted for its wide stretch of white sand, Siesta Beach is lapped by the calm Gulf of Mexico waters. Located just minutes from Sarasota, the beach features public restrooms, snack bars, picnic shelters, gazebos, volleyball courts, and showers. The powdery sand never gets too hot for a walk, so you can intersperse your dips in the gentle waves with long walks along the water's edge. Lifeguards patrol the beach all year, every day of the week, making this one of the safest spots for visitors of all ages and swimming abilities. Parking can become a challenge as the day goes on. Put Siesta Beach into our Siesta Key holiday website and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This is our first trip to Sarasota, so we had to check out this beach. We were not disappointed! We Googled Siesta Key Beach and the directions brought is right there to the parking lot. We got there ...  more »
  • Siesta Key is the most beautiful beach. It was crowded even for an early morning walk just after sunrise. Saw dolphins jumping out of the water! The beach is clean and maintained.  more »
  • Beautiful white and fine sand beach. The water is clear and clean, turquoise green and average temperature. It has waves, is an open beach and if there is wind is revolt. As it gives to the West the sunset is beautiful.

  • Honestly one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to! Nothing at all like the east coast/Atlantic Ocean. This is amazing - the sand is SO soft and white, take your shoes off and feel it! Water is beautiful, even in December. I love this beach and can't wait to go back again!
  • An absolutely marvelous and spectacular Beach!! A must-see for anyone in Southwest Florida. This beach is rated one of the top and the world for its smooth White silky sand. It is a perfect destination for families and with its new restructured parking lot it's not hard to get a close spot. And has volleyball courts and more including a full-service concession stand. You won't be disappointed with this destination!! It's also a fan favorite for photographers
  • A really nice beach! The sand is beautiful and fluffy and the beach is hugely wide. The water is shallow for quite a way, so it’s great for wading and kids. Parking is free!! The beach can be fairly crowded near the water, but not unbearably so (and if you really hate people, just sit farther back on the beach). The bathrooms were large and clean. The concessions offers food and drinks, but the prices are quite high. Instead, I’d suggest bringing a picnic lunch and eating at the large picnic tables that are available. There’s also lifeguards on duty.
  • Beautiful beach! The sand is nearly white and like powder. It seems it gets cleaned and combed every morning. There is a spot where dogs are allowed at the very end of the beach. Smoking is allowed again since 2013. Local administration prohibited smoking on the beach before 2013. But this was overruled by national legislation. The beach is open 24/7 and it's free. Chairs and umbrellas can be rented for 10$ and 17$ respectively (12/2017). The water is quite shallow for about 50yards and there are some sand banks. Great for kids. The water is crystal clear! Just beautiful! The beach is rated the #1 beach on Florida. We haven't seen a more beautiful beach yet. And we have seen many beaches in different countries and on different continents.
  • Amazing place. Beautiful white sand, clear ocean. It was packed when we went. If you want to get a parking spot, you had better get there before 10. They even have a snack bar, pizza, burgers, fries, ice cream. Our new favorite beach.

Where to stay in Siesta Key

Most of the accommodations in Siesta Key are in the northern part of the key. Here you'll find vacation rentals in condominiums and townhouses, as well as a few hotels and bed and breakfasts near the sand. This part of Siesta Key provides convenient access to both the expansive town beach and to the city of Sarasota. Moving down the key, you'll come to quieter Turtle Beach and a smattering of cottages, bed and breakfasts, and small hotels.
