Misty Fjords National Monument, Ketchikan

4.4
#2 of 12 in Parks in Ketchikan
Visit Misty Fjords National Monument to see snow-capped mountains behind jagged granite cliff walls that were carved by ancient glaciers. The fjords are part of a coastal rainforest area that is often shrouded in clouds and mist, giving the area its name. In the water, watch for orcas, porpoises, sea lions, seals, and salmon. On land, you might see bears, deer, wolves, wolverines, moose, and mountain goats as well as hummingbirds and migratory sea birds. You can only access the remote fjords by floatplane or cruise ship. For the more adventurous, boat drops for kayaking can be arranged. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Misty Fjords National Monument and many more Ketchikan attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Ketchikan vacation route planner.

What a beautiful wilderness area. Something like 2.2 million acres set aside by the US government to remain natural and with no roads. Only way to see is by foot, by boat or by air. This is an amazing place to visit. The mountains are incredible!

Astoundingly beautiful. The park is similar to Yosemite, expect that it is bigger, wetter, greener and even more awe inspiring.
