  • This park is a great place to see a glacier and waterfall when traveling with small children and grandparents. Trails were easy walks and well marked. Visitor Center was very informative and great views for those who didn't want to walk.
  • This Visitor Center affords breathtaking views of the Mendenhall Glacier, Mendenhall Lake, and Nugget Falls. Modern, beautiful facility, offers wheel chair accessible educational and interpretative exhibits, clean restrooms, a gift shop, a $15 movie, and a place to warm up on a cold day. Friendly staff and volunteers greet you with a smile year-round.
  • How can onr off everything I'm a first year at the same time as you haven't done an as foe and I would have been able to do classics at the same time as you haven't done an
  • Gorgeous glacier! Must see for Juneau, the lovely capitol of Alaska. My friends and I booked a combo shore excursion package through Princess and unfortunately our day was abbreviated due to rough weather for our last port stop so we only stayed in town until 2PM. I wish we had more time at this amazing attraction so we could have also gone on the Nugget Falls trail since it was a 2 mile loop hike! I suppose there's always next time...right? Our bus arrived and allowed us a little over an hour to explore the beautiful visitor's center and Mendenhall Glacier/Nugget Falls. We were a bit sidetracked once we heard that the rangers spotted black bear cubs and we spent the majority of our time trying to get a peek of them. The visitor's center has a great viewing deck with several telescopes set up so you can get a very up close look of all the crevices of the glacier. We also spotted several bald eagles in the distance. They also had a piece of the glacier for us to touch on display. All of the rangers we encountered were very helpful and kept us in the loop of black bear spottings.
  • great spot, easy walk out to the waterfall, lots of info at the visitor center. Must do when in Juneau

Where to stay in Juneau

For easy access to the best of Juneau’s cultural attractions, dining options, and historical pubs, consider paying extra to stay in a downtown hotel while on vacation. A bed and breakfast or lodge farther out of town provides the great views and outdoor experience for which Alaska is famed. Before booking a lodge, check carefully how far it is from the city center. Distances on maps of a state and city this big can be deceptive.
