Anne's Beach, Islamorada

2.8
#2 of 9 in Parks in Islamorada
Dedicated to local environmentalist Anne Eaton, Anne's Beach features a shallow swimming area along a shore lined with mangroves. Try your hand at kiteboarding, or snorkel to look for octopuses. When you're done, walk along the boardwalk, which is an elevated, wooden path that leads 0.8 km (0.5 mi) through natural wetlands. Bring a picnic basket and eat in the covered picnic area. Amenities include two parking lots and bathroom facilities. Watch your step to avoid crab holes. • For eleven years pre hurricane we loved it here. After Irma, the beach is gone. So no swimming or wading, no sand, only muck. . Now it's ideal for kayaks, wakeboarding, picnics and nature views...  more »
  • Nice boardwalk and pavilions but very limited beach. I had hoped to take a swim but area was covered with seaweed. Maybe next time.  more »

  • I've only stopped here for rest when riding the motorcycle back back from the mainland several times. I like the Veterans Memorial Park south of Marathon much better.
  • This photo of Anne's beach is misleading. No beach really. It's muck and sink in it as walk. Not good for kids . Smells. Stop at bridge by Robbie and swim and snorkel in clear clean water instead. I'm posting this to help others from out of town
