White Rock Lake Park, Dallas

#5 of 22 in Parks in Dallas
Water Body · Hidden Gem · Park
Formed by a collection of farms that had been dammed in the past, White Rock Lake Park became an esteemed running, hiking, fishing, and bird watching site. Covering 507 hectares (1,254 acres) of land, and with the maximum depth of 5.5 m (18 ft), the lake is used exclusively for fishing and sailing; swimming and motorboats were banned in the 1950s. Check out the 15 km (9.3 mi) trail, and look for fishing piers over the lake's clear waters. The park is home to an array of birds, squirrels, beavers, and coyotes, as well as, reportedly, a ghost from the 1930s. • Rode bike along mostly trails from Renaissance hotel to White Rock lake area. Enjoyable views and safe areas for beautiful lake with docks and many other features not experienced.  more »
  • We went on a walk around White Rock Lake and it is a very nice place to walk. You have to watch out though for bikers who can whiz by.  more »

  • We went for a walk around this lake. Saw a ton of turtles on logs, variety of ducks and some birds. We also noticed two snakes swimming in the lake and some flowers among the grass. Very enjoyable walk. Lots of joggers, bike riders and walkers. Plenty of room for all of us to enjoy the lake and nature along the way. White Rick Lake has good walking and biking trails. The few houses in the area are huge, lovely. Great place to relax.
  • Love the All British Car Day they have here every year. The park is well kept. I've been paddling on the lake and enjoyed that as well. My only concern is the cyclist don't like to slow down for pedestrians so be on the lookout.
