4.2
#24 of 252 in Museums in London
An independent academy run by artists and architects, Royal Academy of Arts is one of the world's foremost art schools. It is also one of the oldest art schools in Britain and houses a collection of important books, archives, and works of art. Many of these are archived online for free viewing. The most prized piece in the collection is Michelangelo's Taddei Tondo, which is on display in the Sackler Wing on the gallery level. This gallery, as well as other portions of the academy, are open to the public. In fact, the academy gallery spans two city blocks and, as of 2015, the Piccadilly and Burlington Gardens locations will be joined. Review ticketing options and book tickets online, where you'll see discounts and get updates on the latest exhibitions. • Summer exhibition love it been before and will continue to come every year. The variety and quality never cease to amaze. There always stuff I don't get or understand but that's art for you. Well worth going to see any of the exhibitions they have on. Better yet as I found membership is much better value 😀
  • Great art in a great setting. The shows are fabulous. The current show is well curated. The Schjerfbeck exhibition is well worth a visit. Also visit the other galleries. Plan on at least two hours.
