Witness the pomp of ages-old British tradition at the Horse Guards Parade. Though there are mounted guards here to observe all day, a highlight is the changing of the guard ceremony, which takes place every morning. Appreciate the music, atmosphere, and precision of the ritual. Admire the horses and the splendid red uniforms of the guards. Bring your camera along and have your photo taken with one of the guards or horses. Talk to one of the mounted police officers accompanying the guards to answer any questions and for more information. Horse Guards Parade Reviews
I really appreciated the dramatic setting. Right in the centre of London, a massive, flat, dusty parade ground, right in back of the Ministry of Defence. I expect this kind of thing in Paris, where... more »

A really unique experience if you like horses and pomp and circumstance. The facts: during the week this takes place at 11 AM on the grounds referred to as the horse guard parade field. You should be in place at least 15 minutes beforehand to get a good viewing position. The parade lasts till 11:30. It is worth waiting during the time when everyone is stationary. It may seem like a long time, but the action is in the courtyard during this time. Patience is a virtue.
This is a must see if you are visiting London. It is an amazing sight watching the guards on their groomed horses riding down from Hyde Park towards Buckingham Place. The guards wearing their shiny armour and red plumed helmets are a sight to behold. An awesome experience and the police on the sidelines are very accommodating and let you jump the rope to take photos if you smile nicely.
