The former hunting grounds for King Henry VIII, Greenwich Park dates back to the 15th century. This 74 hectare (183 acre) park is the oldest enclosed royal park in the UK--much of the original brick wall still exists today. Be on the lookout for the small herd of fallow and red deer, a remnant from the park's origins as a hunting ground. Enjoy spectacular views of the River Thames and St. Paul's Cathedral while picnicking with South London's locals. Because of the limited parking facilities, access the park by Tube, bus, train, DLR, or boat. Arrive by bike to enjoy the numerous cycling routes available. Greenwich Park Reviews

Quite a steep climb up to the observatory it rewarded by the views, evening a dull day. We arrived about 10.45 am Sunday morning and there was plenty space to take photos. We didn’t go into the... more »
An interesting park next to the National Maritime museum. There is plenty of open space with lovely views from the top of the hill where the Royal Observatory is situated. You can stand on the meridian line if you go through the gate on the path that runs in front of the royal Observatory for free. Or you can pay to go in to the Observatory. Apparently there's also a deer park at the rear of the park but we didn't visit this. There is plenty of space in this park for picnics and lovely vistas. Worth a visit.
A beautiful park with lovely views looking over Greenwich and London proper. Lots of tourists but lots of space as well! Don't forget to see the prime meridian (yes, it's just a line, but it represents so much more) and the observatory. Great for a day trip.
