Eventim Apollo opened in 1932 as the Gaumont Palace and became the Hammersmith Odeon in 1962. Designed in the Art Deco style its life began as a cinema but whilst named the Odeon it became a famous destination for live music, indluing artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bob Marley.
Grade II* listed since the 1990s it became an adaptable space in 2006 in order to accommodate larger, standing crowds.
The 1932 fully restored Compton organ, used in its cinema days, is still found at the venue which has also become a favourite place for Live (and televised) Comedy events.
With a mixed standing seated capacity of over 3500 and 5000 for all standing it remains one of London’s legendary venues.
Eventim Apollo Reviews
Came to watch the whitney Hologram tour uk. Had paid for a seat not a standing area so was hoping to watch the show seated but couldn't see much at all. People kept standing up in their seat area... more »
Attended Ginger Baker Tribute concert at the Apollo Hammersmith. To a music fan this venue has a somewhat legendary history having hosted most major bands over the years. Stylish Art Deco style... more »
Super easy to get into, the MASSIVE queue for Marina And The Diamonds was cleared in a matter of minutes, and staff were helpful. The place inside is tilted at an angle so that people at the back can see over the ones at the front, and I managed to get front-row (well... maybe behind 2 people) without trying very hard. Crowds, effects and lighting are great. Good sound as well.
The Eventim Apollo is a large theatre on two levels. The views are excellent. The circle bar is very large and for this Christmas show was decorated beautifully. Seats are comfortable with plenty of room and staff helpful and friendly. A great place to see music, comedy or theatre. Nearby Broadway shopping centre has plenty of cheap food places to eat.
