Sam Mendes, Michael Grandage and now Josie Rourke have all served as artistic director. The theatre has a diverse artistic policy that includes new writing, contemporary reappraisals of European classics, British and American drama and small-scale musical theatre.
As well as presenting at least six productions a year at its home in Covent Garden, every year the Donmar tours one in-house production in the UK.

Great little theatre that brings you really close to the action. Reasonable seat prices but bar drinks expensive. Happy, friendly staff and top line actors. Plays are sometimes challenging but always worth a visit.
Great little theatre space! Berberian Sound Studio was a brilliant experience. Very immersive, probably partly due to closeness - practically onstage! Comfortable seating. Staff were friendly and helpful. (Toilets could do with a bit more looking after)
