The City and Borough of Sitka, formerly New Archangel while under Russian rule (; or, t ''''), is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Pacific Ocean (part of the Alaska Panhandle), in the U.S. Start off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): see the interesting displays at Sheldon Jackson Museum, then paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour, then take an in-depth tour of Sitka Centennial Visitors Center, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Michael's Cathedral. Keep things going the next day: get to know the fascinating history of Sitka National Historic Park/Totem Park and then admire the striking features of Russian Bishop's House.
