Pattaya Floating Market, Pattaya

2.6
Immerse yourself in quintessential Thai culture at Pattaya Floating Market, an authentic site displaying the captivating way in which fruit and vegetables have traditionally been bought and sold in the country. On wooden boats that hug the old architecture of the riverside, market vendors haggle and sell their wares before darting down the river to secure another sail. Take a trip out on an authentic rowboat to see the buildings and produce from a different perspective. Make sure to bring your camera to document the famous sight of the colorful fresh food against the murky waters. Pattaya Floating Market is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Pattaya Edition.

  • This review is written from the point of view of a photographer and what the same should expect to see. The floating market is a really good place to take some great shots as there are many shops, stalls, kiosks to stop at, and many activities to witness, so keep your camera clicking. OK, so apart from the boat rides that you take, you can savour the many local delicacies available. You can choose to have your Tom Yum soup on one of the wooden platforms and wait for it as it is being prepared on a boat while smelling the rich fragrances coming from everywhere. You could also try some bird eggs 😃 or crocodile or scorpion if you fancy that 🤧 In addition, you have countless opportunities to take some really great pics of the vendors or even the passers-by. Then again, this is Thailand, how can you forgive yourself if you do not pamper yourself with some massage, or perhaps choose to have your feet cleaned by fish in a foot spa. Let me also add here that there is a zip line that holds up to 90kg. Even though I weighed 90 on their scale (without the camera 📷😅), they told me it wasn't safe for my weight. Confusing, right? Anyway, no big deal. I paid 900 baht for my ticket which included riding the amphibious boat. Lastly, you get to meet new people and perhaps make friends. All in all, go there, you won't regret it.
  • This was the only floating market I visited in Thailand and also the first of its kind. Its a must visit for sure. They have different kinds of entry tickets with or without boat rides, monkey show etc. The different kinds of shops selling souvenirs, clothes, Thai handlooms etc. are pretty varied in their selection. There are some pretty raunchy weird souvenirs as well that you can purchase (only in Thailand). Various food stalls sell local delicacies and some of them are a must try for sure. I loved the Banana Pancakes and Coconut Ice Cream. A great place to get the local feel and do some shopping.
  • After reading some of the reviews on here i must have visited somewhere else 😂 this place was great! Okay so it cost me and my wife 900baht per person in, but for this you got two boat riders, a monkey show( Which I must say wasn't all that ) zip lining and a free souvenirs, one each. I don't know what people expect to be honest. There is loads of places to eat , buy things and look at. The price seemed to be as cheap as anywhere local. If not cheaper, especially for food! We spent about 1pm and didn't leave till 6pm! So it took up the best part of our day! It was quite busy but not unbearably by any means! I would recommend to come here for the experience to anyone. We had some lovely banana pancakes which were 50baht each and were beautiful! Also tried sparrow for 60baht which was also very nice!
  • Must visit tourist attraction in the town. It gives a pretty different and good experience for first time visitor. It had couple of activities apart form the shopping. Prices are a bit high in range to shop but you will find a wide varieties of options. For Non Veg lovers, this place is like heaven, you will find every variety of food. But for vegetarians it would be tuff time :)
  • Know your surroundings while walking through. Trust me, the best WILL get lost. Pay attention because the wooden walkways all look the same. Great bargains. Very safe.
