Big Buddha, Pattaya

4.3
#1 of 9 in Historic Sites in Pattaya
Head up the dragon-lined staircase to the seat of Big Buddha, a bright gold figure standing 18 m (59 ft) tall. Offerings, incense, decorations, and bells surround the striking statue. Learn about Buddhism at the temple through the historical information provided, then look around the hilltop site to see Buddhas in other poses. The staircase up to the plateau is attractive in itself for its decorative flourishes, and does not ascend too steeply for most visitors. • Beautiful Thai place where you can relax and forget about the city around. To visit Big Buddha you should be dressed properly, but you can also borrow the clothes here. Atmosphere and energetic are incredible! Choose your Buddha by the day of the week you was born and make a wish! The entrance is free, but you can buy some souvenirs here.
  • Unbelievable religious complex, the big Buddah is the highlight but there's much more. The rest of the architecture and religious symbols are also worth visiting. It's good a Japanese vibe and it's completely free. If you visit Pattaya, this is for sure a must.
  • Must see if your there highly recommended went twice last time I was there such a peaceful place beautiful scenery and very educational good for families. But please respect their beliefs women should cover their legs when the go they will provide you with something but I would advise you to take something to rap around you yourself other than that very enjoyable experience.

  • Clean and well maintence. Nice spot for knowing the thai culture.

Where to stay in Pattaya

Stay near Walking Street for lodgings closest to Pattaya's famous nightlife. Head up the coast to find quieter and bigger rooms in budget hotels or the more expensive resort-style complexes. You can also look in Soi Buakhao, where backpacker hostels and economical hotels offer easy access to main attractions, activities, and facilities.
