Big Lagoon, El Nido

4.7
#2 of 16 in Nature in El Nido
The tranquil turquoise-green waters of Big Lagoon lie tucked between magnificent limestone cliffs fringed by tropical vegetation. Showcasing a kaleidoscope of marine life, the spot provides an excellent diving and snorkeling opportunity. Cruise into it with a catamaran and hop off the boat for a pleasant swim, or kayak around to explore all the shades of blue and caves under the dramatically ridged cliffs. Set in the midst of karst formations sheltering clear waters, the lagoon is a breeding ground for numerous fish and crustaceans. Tours usually include an adventure to the island's smaller lagoon nearby and fresh seafood treats. Make Big Lagoon a part of your El Nido vacation plans using our El Nido trip planner .

  • The Great Lagoon is located in the northern part of the Mini Island, and can be drawn from the mini promise resort, the two sides of the rocky formation of curved waterways, through the island of the lagoon, the lake because the mountain rock like a breakwater function, the level of the mirror crystal clear Bottom, where the view is the Philippine tradition of the first selection point.

  • The boat drops you off at the entrance, I recommend you rent a kayak to get lost by the channels of the lagoon where these really only with your kayak! Also full of jellyfish haha parties there that recommended kayak ;) The place is really beautiful!

  • One of the most photographed places in El Nido, Big Lagoon is a must visit. Avail of Tour A to visit this place.
  • El Nido is a must if you visit Philippines. El Nido is for me the best in Philippines. I don't understand why people like Boracay. I was there few times because friend of mine running surf business and I do surfing there too. Back to El Nido, I would suggest people travelling more than two persons to have own private boat incl. the meal. You must not fight for the food or the kayak (canoe) and hurry up in place you like. In our case, just two of us, we like the big lagoon so we decided to stay there longer. In big tour you can not do it! It was a family member of small Dessert hotel who arranged the boat for us for bit more pesos than the big tours . We really enjoyed and would do again. We joined those big tours, A, B and D), was not nice
  • a definite highlight of el nido. you can do island hopping tour A that will take you here. all the companies offer the same tour for the price so easy to get here. if you're after your epic instagram pic then this place is guaranteed likes.
  • Great lagoon with amazing rocks just rising from the water on all sides. Usually overcrowded but worth visiting. Renting a kayak is a great option if you are into taking photos.
  • Great place for kayaking just don't forget to put sunblock and bring your sunglasses.

Where to stay in El Nido

Long since established as a domestic tourist destination, El Nido's growing international reputation has led to a number of eco-tourism and resort-style options popping up in recent years. The main town on the west coast offers the greatest choice, with sprawling luxury resorts, hotels, and guesthouses all enjoying convenient access to the surrounding islands. Staying on one of the islands presents an exciting alternative, although you'll find the choice largely limited to luxury hotels.
